Jennifer Aniston is an American actress born on February 11, 1969. She is the daughter of actress Nancy Dow and soap opera star John Aniston. Her father is Greek and her mother was of Scottish- Italian descent. As a child she lived in Greece for a year with her family until they relocated to New York City.
Aniston is a graduate of Manhattan's Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, where she studied drama. Before she moved to Los Angeles, she worked on off Broadway productions and supported herself by doing odd jobs.
She made the move to California in 1989. For four years she played minor parts in several films and TV shows, and even considered giving up on acting, only to finally strike gold with NBC's hit TV series "Friends", in which she was cast as the ditsy Rachel Green. She played that character until the show ended in 2004, after 10 years on the air. The show made stars out of Aniston as well as her co-stars who, in the last season of filming, received $1 million per episode. Aniston has played in numerous films such as "Bruce Allmighty" (2003) opposite Jim Carrey, "The Break-Up" (2006) with Vince Vaughn, whom she became involved with during filming, and others, mostly of the romantic comedy genre.
She has been married once, to actor Brad Pitt whom she met in 1998 and exchanged wedding vows with in 2000. They were thought to have the perfect marriage, a rarity in Hollywood, but despite appearances they separated in January 2005, only to have their divorce finalized 4 months later. Pitt became involved with Angelina Jolie and there were rumors that he cheated with her while still married to Aniston, which Pitt and Jolie both denied. Since then, Aniston has dated some, but has mostly been on and off with singer John Meyer.
